Rethymnon port operates many regular itineraries that become more intense during the summer months.
There is a regular ferry service to and from Ahtens Piraeus port that is fairly cheap. Throughout the summer when thousands of tourists from all over the world arrive to enjoy the sun and beautiful beaches the port is where the town’s heart beats.
The ferry pier is very close to Venetian harbor and not far from the center. There are daily trips in the summer to the Cyclades, Dodecanese and Sporades.
There is a number of boat trips to island sites including five ferries daily to the Samaria Gorge and daily to the southern island of Gavdos in the summer season. Tours to Santorini are also organized during the summer.
Unfortunately, Rethymnon city does not have an airport so the port is particularly significant for the city.
